Comparing Your Campaign Metrics To Industry Averages Is Misleading
Today on The Calculate Minute: why comparing your campaign metrics to industry averages is misleading - not meaningful.
It's tempting to benchmark against industry averages or a competitor school. But since no two institutions are exactly alike, you're essentially comparing apples to oranges. Your market, geography, and existing reputation all factor in. School A might simply outperform School B because of its reputation, not because the campaign was stronger.
Even at the same school, timing matters — a summer transfer campaign can outperform the same exact campaign run in the winter.
Benchmark against your own past campaigns instead — same time of year, same targeting, same audiences, everything. That's the only true apples-to-apples comparison.
So stop chasing someone else's numbers and start beating your own. Want help building a digital marketing campaign worth benchmarking? Let's talk.
